I hit the lotto.. Sort of...

So I think I've blogged before about how much I love my language master/card master.  Well on Friday one of my co-workers was cleaning out an old closet and found all of THIS!!!

  • 5 Headphones
  • Headset Jackbox
  • about 900 Blank Soundcards (multiple sizes)
  • Language Master (now I have 3)

She immediately brought them to me because she knew I would be in HEAVEN!! I was so happy I immediately snapped a picture.  These items are pretty pricey and I could never afford all of this with my yearly budget.

I know to some of you these probably look OLD SCHOOL.  Especially in the world of laptops, netbooks, iPods, iPads etc.  But I find them to continue to be pretty useful.

So you're  probably wondering how I work these items into therapy.  Well I already had a about 100 pre-printed cards with various objects and actions on them and I use them with my students who are at the emerging stage of vocabulary development...

The brown strip on the bottom is magnetic and recordable.  So in the beginning stages I just have students listen to the recording of each word.  Once they start to make progress they can record themselves saying each word.  Each strip has about 15 seconds of record time so I also use them for 'I see / It's a/an" sentences.

Since I now have so many blank cards now I plan to print some articulation sounds onto them and add the language master to the listening center in my ARtIC Lab.

I also now have some of the larger cards so I am hoping there is enough record time on them for 3 step sequence pictures.

I hope you all are having a wonderful and restful Labor Day Weekend!

  1. I am impressed they are still working! My district cleaned out tons of cards a few years ago because the machines were all broken, a sign of over-use.

    Oh, How Pintearesting!

  2. I am one of two people in my building who still use them.
