Craziest 1st Day EVER!!

It came and it WENT!!! The most insane 1st day ever.

So here is how my day went.

7am - Arrive at school finish miscellaneous task

8:30 - 9:20 - Crazy 1st day Bus Duty

9:20 - 4:00 - Create the schedule from HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse my language y'all but it was just THAT kind of day.  Usually scheduling my students is easy breezy.  I sit with my teachers we plug in the times and FIN.  ONE & DONE.  But this year the entire school schedule changed and that just made this process all kinds of crazy.  I have to say though I am so thankful and appreciative of the teachers at my school.  They really value the importance of Speech and Language Services and are so FLEXIBLE with when I can pull kiddos out for therapy.  Although it was a little outrageous at times they made it a quite a bit easier for me.  I also want to shout out my fellow SLP, she splits the building caseload with me and she was really so much help today.

Anyway, on to better and brighter things.  My room is all unpacked and looking normal again.   Our building is K-5 with 6 self contained classrooms and preschool walk-in services so the other SLP and I split the caseload. I know alot of SLPs would prefer not to share a room but I actually LOVE it. I think its great to have someone else in the building to bounce ideas off of or help out with a tough case.

My Favorite (FREE) Therapy Resource: Boardmaker Share

One of my favorite places for searching for resources to use in therapy is Boardmaker Share.

Boardmaker Share is an online community where educators can share tools they have made using Boardmaker software.  There are literally thousands of pre-made activities for any idea you can think of.   To download and use activities from the site you need to have a Boardmaker product installed on your computer.  Luckily for me my district provides me with a license for Boardmaker to use on my work laptop.

These are some of the recent activities that I have downloaded:

Story Frame Cue Card by: Cheerio

WH? / Describing Cue Card By: Cheerio

Sorting Activities By: npruitt

Story Retell Ring By: abfed

Personal Narrative Retell Ring By:  abfed

Inferencing Game By: mweidner

WH- Question Support By: Molly Campbell

First off.. if you are the creator of any of these items THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I can't wait to put these tools to use this school year.

Secondly... If you haven't already go an check out Boardmaker Share and get to downloading and uploading.

Finally.. Yes I am writing this at 3am (don't judge don't judge) I am heading to bed now.

Good night to me.. Good morning to you..

Preparation Purchases

So I am reluctantly preparing to get ready for the new school year.  I have been running around NYC/Westchester getting the items I need to start the school year off on the right foot.

I still need to pick up a few more things but here is what I have so far.

From Lakeshore Learning:

Picture books, Good Work/Behavior Tickets, Poster Keyboards, Vocabulary Activity to use with the book "Quick As A Cricket", and laminating pouches.

I also got a bunch of goodies for FREE from Staples by redeeming my rewards!!

8 more days!!!

Happy Monday Guys!!
